Why choose Bulgaria for your company event?

Bulgaria already had large conference venues built during the late twentieth century. One example is the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, still one of the largest congress centres in Southeast Europe. Today, these venues are complemented by modern convention facilities, and new international hotels with well-equipped meeting spaces.

Located in Southeast Europe, Bulgaria offers a mix of modern infrastructure and a long cultural history. The country is relatively compact and easy to travel across. Historic city centres, wine regions, mountain resorts, and Black Sea destinations are all within a few hours of each other. This makes it easy to combine meetings with cultural visits, wine tastings, outdoor activities, or spa experiences.

Costs remain competitive compared with Western Europe. At the same time, the country offers excellent accommodation, gastronomy, and professional event services. When it comes to travel, Bulgaria also offers experiences that feel authentic and rooted in local traditions.

Best Cities in Bulgaria for MICE and Incentive Travel

Bulgaria’s main cities offer a strong mix of conference infrastructure, historic settings, and memorable experiences for incentive groups. From vibrant cultural centers to seaside and mountain resorts, each destination provides a different atmosphere for meetings, corporate retreats, and team programs.

Sofia, Bulgaria’s Capital and Business Hub

Sofia is the country’s main hub for international business events. The city has the largest concentration of conference venues, business hotels, and cultural institutions. Its international airport connects Bulgaria with many major cities across Europe and the world.

One of the country’s leading venues for large conferences and corporate events is the National Palace of Culture, a landmark complex located in the heart of the city. Event programs in Sofia can easily combine meetings with visits to landmarks such as the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral or short excursions to the nearby Vitosha Mountain.

After that, proceed to Vodenitsata restaurant for a delicious and memorable dinner, including traditional dances and walking on live coal.

Plovdiv, the Culture Capital

One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Plovdiv is known for its Roman heritage, colourful old town houses, and lively creative atmosphere. The city gained international recognition as a European Capital of Culture 2019.

Plovdiv works well for incentive groups and smaller conferences. Boutique hotels, restored historic houses, wine estates, and cultural venues provide interesting settings for private events.

MICE idea:
Organise a private workshop with local artists in the Street of Arts and Crafts in the old town. Participants can learn traditional crafts or contemporary art techniques as part of their visit.

Varna, the Black Sea Capital

Located on the Black Sea coast, Varna combines conference infrastructure with seaside vibes. The city has large resort hotels, congress venues, and beachside restaurants, which makes it suitable for conferences, corporate retreats, and summer incentive trips.

Beyond meetings, groups can explore historic landmarks such as the Roman Baths of Varna or enjoy the lively seaside promenade.

MICE idea:
Organize a private event or networking dinner at Euxinograd Palace, a historic seaside palace with elegant gardens and stunning views of the Black Sea, perfect for exclusive corporate gatherings.

Bansko, the Mountain and SPA Escape

Bansko is Bulgaria’s best-known mountain resort and a strong choice for incentive travel. During winter, the town is a popular ski destination in the Pirin Mountains. In warmer months, the same landscapes offer hiking, mountain biking, and outdoor team activities.

Many hotels in Bansko include modern conference rooms and nearby there are numerous mineral water springs andn spa facilities.

MICE idea:
Organize a traditional evening in a local tavern with live folklore music, regional cuisine, and team activities that introduce participants to mountain traditions from the Pirin region.
